Boom! Congratulations to the Explosion Select who won the ASA Roane State College Showcase Tournament held at Centennial Park in Crossville, TN from 6-6-15 through 6-7-15! The Select went 7-0 a tournament that featured 16 extremely competitive teams from all over Tennessee and Kentucky. The field included the Tennessee Thunder, Tennessee Twisters, Worth Hustle, Central Kentucky Impact, TN Tribe, East Tennessee Crush amongst a host of others. Unfortunately, rain cancelled ...the championship game with the Tennessee Thunder and the championship was awarded on overall seed which the Select earned by going 4-0 in an 8 team pool. A tip of the cap to the TN Worth Hustle who also went undefeated in the other Pool of 8 teams but did not participate in single elimination play on Sunday. The Select outscored the competition 65-22 and hit a scorching .421 batting average for the weekend, led by tournament MVP Abby Swilley, who hit .819 with 1 home run. The Select pitching was also outstanding as Hannah Triplett, Hope Mizell and Madison Owens all picked up 2 wins each and Abby Swilley had a dominating performance against the East Tennessee Crush. The defensive player of the tournament was Tali Graham who ran a fake to 1st to nab a key defensive out in a close contest against the undefeated Crush and saved a potential game winning double from going into the left field corner by jumping 3-4 feet off of the ground against the TN Twisters in bracket play.
